As usual, I've been conspicuously absent under deadline, but it feels unceremonious, even crotchety, to sneak into the new year without popping my head out from behind the keyboard. The mantra LET IT BE runs through my head, washing away the aftertaste of 2007, not a prize vintage. 2008 is about connection, hearth, finding lost objects, building our anthills, kicking up dust, electing a worthy president, lying back in the grass and eating cheese.
